EASTERN RAILWAY PAYS TRIBUTE TO NARI SHAKTI ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Eastern Railway recognizes the immense contribution of their lady employees towards the progress path of this zone on the occasion of International Women?s Day. Lady employees over Eastern Railway not only take part in office jobs but also they are performing outdoor jobs as well as in safety cadres like Loco Pilot, Guard, Permanent Way Maintainer, Jr. Engineer, Technician etc. as well as in the role of lady officers leading various departments or offices.

Eastern Railway is committed to providing a supportive environment for the growth and development of women employees. Eastern Railway proactively organizes various training programs, mentorship opportunities, and career advancement initiatives to empower women to reach their full potential and thrive in their careers.

For the benefit of lady employees, Eastern Railway has created a number of facilities like 55 ladies toilets, 26 changing rooms, 7 Napkin Vending Machines and 1 Gymnasium. All these facilities are available at the strategic locations. Besides, a total of 115 lady RPF Barracks are existing over Eastern Railway and 17 more are under construction for the on duty lady RPF staff.

On the occasion of International Women?s Day celebration Eastern Railway has prepared a short video film depicting the immense contribution of the Women Workforce through various skillful activities.

One Matribhumi Local (Ladies Special EMU local) 31802 DN from Krishnanagar arrived at Sealdah station with all women Crew ,Guard and Lady RPF contingent at 11.00 AM on 8.3.2025. Moreover,all the Reservation counters and Unreserved ticket windows were manned by women employees at Sealdah station. At the same time all women ticket checking staff arranged at Sealdah station under the guidance of a lady officer.

In a heartfelt tribute to the invaluable contributions of women in the railway sector, Howrah Divisions Commercial Department organized a special program at Howrah Station to commemorate International Womens Day. The event aimed to honor the dedication and hard work of female employees working as Commercial Clerks in Booking Office, Reservation, and Parcel, as well as Ticket Examiners. The program highlighted the essential role these women play in the smooth functioning of the station and railway services.

As part of the celebration, a training programme for lady employees was conducted at Asansol recently. An expert Education Officer from the Ministry of Labour was invited to conduct the session, focusing on stress management, intellectual performance, and emotional well-being. The programme also included a meditation training session to enhance focus and productivity at the workplace. Lady employees of Asansol Division participated enthusiastically, and positive feedback was received.Additionally, a Health Check-up Camp was organized on 6th March 2025 at the New Conference Room, DRM?s Office, Asansol, benefiting around 80 lady employees.

International Women's day celebrated at Eastern Railway Jamalpur Locomotive Workshop Eastern Railway inter college Jamalpur with great enthusiasm. Various activities viz Drawing , painting, Debate, seminar & cultural activities held with Dy CPO jamalpur has addressed the central theme & Chief Workshop Manager has delivered the keynote address. Various activities viz Drawing & Painting Competition, Music , Dance , Debate & seminar were also organised.

Similar kinds of programme were also organised in all other Divisions and Workshops of Eastern Railway. This event also serves as a platform to discuss ways to further empower women employees and foster an inclusive, supportive work environment.
