SPECIAL TICKET CHECKING DRIVE CONDUCTED BY HOWRAH DIVISION YIELDS SIGNIFICANT RESULTS

In a proactive effort to curb ticketless travel and promote compliance with railway regulations, Eastern Railway Howrah Division conducted a special ticket checking drive on June 10, 2025. The drive was carried out under the guidance of Rahul Ranjan, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM), Howrah, and close supervision of Sharita Kumari, Assistant Commercial Manager (ACM/HC).

A dedicated team comprising 16 Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) and 2 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel undertook an intensive checking operation. The drive included both mobile ticket inspections onboard local trains running between Howrah and Shrirampur stations, as well as static checks at key stations such as Howrah, Shrirampur, and Rishra.

The operation resulted in the detection of 229 cases of ticket irregularities, contributing Rs. 81,715 in revenue from passengers traveling without valid tickets. Additionally, 111 cases of unbooked luggage were identified, earning Rs. 12,090, while 4 cases of littering generated Rs. 800 in fines. In total, the drive recorded 344 cases and generated Rs. 94,605 in fines and penalties.

This special checking initiative underscores the commitment of the Howrah Division to maintaining discipline in railway travel and upholding fare integrity. The Commercial Department remains steadfast in its efforts to deter ticketless travel and ensure a fair and secure environment for all bona fide passengers.

Eastern Railway urges all passengers to travel with valid tickets and cooperate with railway authorities during ticket inspections. Such collective responsibility is essential in creating a more disciplined, efficient, and passenger-friendly railway system.
