General Manager presents Safety Award to 12 employees of Central Railway

Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 12 Central Railway employees with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai on 10 March .

The Safety Awards were presented in recognition of the alertness, presence of mind and dedication to duty displayed by the employees while on duty, which helped avert potential untoward incidents and ensured safe train operations during the past months. Each award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and a cash prize of ₹ 3500.

Details of the Awardees

Mumbai Division- (2 Awardees)

G C Issac, Station Manager, Mankhurd, Mumbai Division, while on duty on 24.01.2026, noticed aluminium strips entangled in the trolley of the last coach of a Panvel bound local.Issac immediately showed danger signal and managed to stop the train. The strips were removed with the help of onduty Pointsman & RPF and the train departed safely. His alertness and prompt action helped avert an untoward incident.

Sumit Kumar, Train Manager, CSMT, Mumbai Division, was on duty on 28.01.2026, on the MUCK special train. As the train passed Kalva station,Sumit Kumar noticed unusual dust being thrown up The train was stopped and inspection revealed a broken frame of a Coach. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken. His alertness helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Nagpur Division(4 Awardees)

Digambar Singh, Deputy Station Manager, Bhandak, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 24.01.2026, during exchange of signals with passing goods train, noticed a hot axle in one of the wagons. He immediately informed all concerned and timely action was taken. His alertness helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Arvind Kumar, Senior Train Manager, Nagpur, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 14.02.2026, noticed fire in one of the wagons of a passing goods train on the opposite track. He immediately alerted all concerned and stopped the train showing red signal. Investigation revealed serious brake binding and timely action was taken. His alertness helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Mujahid Hussain, Senior Technician(TRS), Ajni, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 19.01.2026, during maintenance work of Loco no 31089, noticed a 6 inch crack on the CBC yoke plate of Cab no 2. He immediately informed all concerned, helping avert a potential mishap.

Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Pointsman, Sindi, Nagpur Division, while on duty on 17.02.2026, noticed smoke & fire in the last coach of Train no 12616 (Grand Trunk Express)

He immediately alerted the Station Master and stopped the train in the section showing red signal. The fire was extinguished and the train departed safely. His alertness and timely action helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Pune Division(3 Awardees)

Vinod Mangade, Pointsman, Nandre, Pune Division, while on duty on 19.02.2026, during of exchange of signals with passing goods train, noticed a hot axle in one of the wagons. He immediately showed danger signal, managed to stop the train and informed all concerned. His alertness and timely action helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Vishal Harpude, Gangmate, Pune, Pune Division, while on patrolling duty on 29.01.2026, noticed a wheel burn at kms 190/9-10. He immediately informed all concerned, preventing a potential accident.

Anil Kumar, Trackman, Talegaon, Pune Division, while on caution order protection duty on 17.02.2026, at kms 147/39-19 signalled Vande Bharat express to reduce speed since it had crossed the maximum permissible speed in the section. His alertness helped prevent a possible serious incident.

Bhusawal Division(2 Awardees)

Vinod Kumar, Lineman, Badnera, Bhusaval Division, while on patrolling duty on 01.02.2026, on the Badnera-Amravati section, noticed catenary wire at kms 670A/14-15 damaged by 60% due to kite string. Shri Vinod Kumar took immediate safety precautions and informed all concerned, preventing a potential accident.

Veerpal Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector(RPF), Malkapur, Bhusawal division while on duty on 29.01.2026 at 23.35 hrs, noticed a passenger falling while trying to board the general coach of Train No. 12139 Sewagram Express, which had just started moving. He immediately intervened and saved the passenger from serious injury. His presence of mind and quick response helped avert an untoward incident.

Solapur Division(1 Awardee)

Ambadas Devkar, Senior Technician(Train lighting), Solapur, Solapur Division, while attending a power failure complaint in Train no 12702 Hussain Sagar Express on 24.01.2026, immediately identified the fault due to short circuit and solved the problem. His quick response helped avert an untoward incident.

The General Manager congratulated the awardees for their exemplary devotion to duty and alertness, and expressed confidence that their actions would inspire other railway employees to remain vigilant and committed to ensuring passenger safety and protection of railway assets.

Chandra Kishore Prasad, Principal Chief Safety Officer, Other Principal Head of Departments and Senior Officers of Central Railway were present on the occasion.
