Arvind Malkhede takes over as Principal Chief Operations Manager, Central Railway.

Arvind Malkhede has taken over as Principal Chief Operations Manager, Central Railway. He takes over from S S Gupta who joined Railway Board as Principal Executive Director (Infrastructure).

Malkhede is a 1991 Batch IRTS Officer. He has worked in many important posts including Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Central Railway between 2024-2026, Senior Deputy General Manager, South Central Railway from the year 2022 to 2024 & Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Hubballi Division, South Western Railway between the year 2019 to 2022.

He has also held a challenging post as Chief Freight Transportation Manager (CFTM) at North East Frontier Railway (NFR) during the year 2013-15 when gauge-conversion of very critical Lumding-Badarpur-Silchar line was under way. During this tenure, he planned and ensured unhindered supply of food grains and essentials to far off states like Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Lower Assam.

Malkhede has worked on Central Railway in various positions across Operations & Commercial departments and General administration. He has worked as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Mumbai Division, Deputy Chief Operations Manager (Freight), Deputy General Manager(Gen), Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer(Traffic) and other positions.

He has worked on deputation at IRCTC during the years 2015 to 2019, heading the West Zone as Group General Manager. He has also been on deputation to CONCOR during 1999-2004, when he set up Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar(Aurangabad) and also headed ICD Nagpur.

Arvind Malkhede is a Mechanical Engineer and is a Chevening Gurukul Scholar. During the year 2009, he has studied Leadership and Management programme at prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and got exposure to international institutions in Europe. He has also undergone various trainings and programmes at INSEAD Singapore ICLIF Malaysia, in Hongkong, Germany etc.

He is closely involved in social work with NGOs working on street children in Mumbai.
