General Manager, Central Railway commissioned G+6 Super Speciality Building at Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Byculla

Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway, commissioned the newly constructed G+6 Super Speciality Building on 04.02.2026 at Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Central Railway, Byculla, marking a significant milestone in strengthening advanced and tertiary healthcare services under Central Railway.

Prateek Goswami, General Manager, Central Railway, highlighted the journey of the Super Speciality Building from conceptualization to commissioning. He acknowledged the valuable contributions and sustained efforts of previous General Managers and Principal Chief Medical Directors, whose vision played a pivotal role in the successful development of this landmark healthcare facility.

The Super Speciality Building (G+6) is equipped with modern and advanced medical facilities. The newly commissioned building houses an 11-bedded Casualty with advanced emergency services, 8 modular Operation Theatres, Dialysis Unit with 12 modern dialysis machines, 24 bedded fully equipped ICU, 10-bedded HDU, Male Medical Ward, and a dedicated Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). These facilities will significantly enhance the hospital?s capacity to deliver safe, timely, and self-reliant medical care within the railway healthcare system.

The commissioning of this Super Speciality Building reaffirms Central Railway commitment to continuous upgradation of medical infrastructure and the provision of quality, patient-centric healthcare services to serving and retired railway employees and their families.

Dr. Mamta Sharma, Principal Chief Medical Director, Central Railway, emphasized the paramount importance of the Super Speciality Building in enhancing tertiary healthcare services and outlined the future scope for advanced medical care for railway beneficiaries.

Dr. Sajeev N. K., Medical Director, delivered the inaugural address and briefed the gathering on the facilities and medical capabilities of the newly commissioned building.

The commissioning ceremony was held in the august presence of Prerna Goswami, President, CRWWO, Dr. Mamta Sharma, Principal Chief Medical Director, Central Railway, Principal Heads of Departments,Hiresh Meena, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai. Officers of medical department and Branch Officers of Mumbai Division, along with other doctors and officers were also present.
