NFR Promotes Waste Management & its Recycling Drive under “Swachhata Hi Seva- 2025” Campaign

As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva campaign of 2025, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) organized a series of activities across its divisions to promote awareness on cleanliness, recycling and sustainable practices. The activities were carried out at railway stations, offices, railway hospitals, workshops and railway colonies with enthusiastic participation from railway officials.A Waste-to-Art exhibition and sale was successfully held at Guwahati Railway Station, showcasing innovative products made from recycled and upcycled materials. The exhibition reflected the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR), with special emphasis on creative upcycling of plastic waste. Various items crafted from discarded plastic and other reusable materials were displayed. This approach demonstrated how waste can be transformed into useful and aesthetic products that add values to day-to-day life. The initiative not only highlighted innovative waste management practices but also encouraged public participation in adopting eco-friendly lifestyles.In addition, a Sale of Recycled Product activity was conducted at the Maligaon Colony Compost Plant of NFR. On this occasion, compost manure produced from biodegradable waste at the plant was offered for sale to the residents. The activity aimed at spreading awareness about the benefits of composting and showcasing the importance of household organic wastes conversion into valuable manure for gardening and agriculture.NFR has been actively observing the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign with a variety of events such as cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns and distribution of eco-friendly items and promotion of recycling practices. These efforts underline NFRs commitment towards creating a cleaner and greener environment, while encouraging collective responsibility among employees and the public.
