Howrah Division Organises ATVM Proliferation Campaign to Promote Digital Payments

The Commercial Department of Howrah Division, Eastern Railway, organized a special ATVM Proliferation Campaign with the objective of encouraging passengers to use Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) by adopting digital payment options such as UPI, BHIM, and QR code-based applications* .

Under the leadership of Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah,this campaign was designed to support the broader goals of enhancing customer convenience, reducing congestion at ticket counters, and accelerating the shift towards cashless and contactless ticketing systems.

During the campaign, passengers were informed and guided about the simple steps involved in using ATVMs for purchasing unreserved journey tickets. Special emphasis was placed on demonstrating how easily transactions can be completed using smartphones with UPI-enabled apps, without the need for physical cash.

This initiative is in alignment with the Digital India mission.aiming to modernize railway operations by promoting digital literacy and eco-friendly practices. By reducing manual ticketing and paper usage, the campaign not only improves operational efficiency but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
