EASTERN RAILWAY'S CONTINEOUS ENDEAVOR TO KEEP PLATFORMS & TRACK CLEAN

Howrah Division of Eastern Railway Promotes Cleanliness at Key Stations

The Eastern Railway's Howrah Division took a proactive step towards promoting cleanliness and hygiene at Rishra, Bandel and Kamarkundu railway stations and its surrounding areas through a comprehensive awareness drive conducted on 12.04.2025.

The initiative, led by the division Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) department, involved the active participation of the Chief Health Inspector (CHI), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local shopkeepers. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among the passengers, vendors, and other rail users about the importance of responsible waste disposal, discouraging littering, and reinforcing the prohibition of spitting at Railway premises and other public areas.

Special emphasis was laid on the pressing issue of plastic pollution. Officials educated the travellers and railway users about the harmful effects of plastic waste on the environment and public health, urging a shift toward sustainable, eco-friendly alternatives. Railway users were encouraged to utilize the designated waste bins placed throughout the station and to adopt practices such as using reusable bags, bottles, and containers.

Eastern Railway Howrah Division remains dedicated to conducting similar awareness campaigns throughout its network, fostering collective action toward sustainability and cleanliness.
