Santy Sharma Says Badshah Is Being Misunderstood

Rapper Santy Sharma of India has caused social media discussions after supporting rapper Badshah in a recent issue with his lyrics and music video. The artist took to Instagram to voice his opinion about how hip-hop culture functions and the misunderstandings that many people in India have about the artistic process of rap music.

Sharma's comments suggest that "dissing" (or referencing other rappers within the lyrics) has been a part of the culture of hip hop. Rap artists will reference their competitors directly or indirectly, both as a way to express themselves lyrically and to compete with one another. Furthermore, he added that songs are often recorded before being turned into a music video, which can result in the visual production team being completely separate from the artist who created the song. Even a major artist like Badshah may not have an idea of the final concept of a music video before it is released.

Finally, Sharma pointed out a major barrier for hip hop artists in India to gain exposure is the lack of knowledge by listeners concerning the history and culture of the genre. In his statements, Sharma is pointing out that if you view any lyric/line as problematic, then it's perfectly acceptable to revise it or alter the line. However, judging an artist without a full understanding of their entire creative process is clearly unjust. In his post, Sharma stated that judging an artist without having all the facts reflects how little most of the country understands about the art form of hip hop.

Recently, Santy Sharma has been making headlines for several controversial statements he has made regarding social issues and entertainment. One example was when he contradicted actress/online influencer Khushi Mukherjee's recent and very provocative social media posts. He believed that these types of posts would have a negative impact on younger audiences. Sharma received a mixed bag of responses on social media regarding his opinion on this issue from many users. Some agreed with his ideas and comments, while others disagreed with him.

Additionally, Sharma also responded to the controversy around the title of an upcoming movie titled "Ghooskhor Pandat," a title reportedly connected to actor Manoj Bajpayee. Sharma mentioned that filmmakers should be careful when selecting titles as to not offend cultural sensitivity, and that entertainment should not cause disunity.

Santy Sharma is a First Rapper / hip hop artist from Madhya Pradesh, who is trying to get represent Indian hip-hop scene by becoming an independent artist. He has released many projects over the years including his project Reborn and is now receiving notoriety for his music and opinions. His latest track "I Don't Care" is receiving quite a bit of interest from independent hip-hop fans as well.
