Indian Railways Expands Train Halts Across the Region Strengthening Access and Passenger Convenience

Indian Railways has introduced additional train stoppages across Assam, West Bengal and Bihar under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Frontier Railway effective 17th February 2026. Train No. 75729/75730 (Guwahati ? Silghat Town ? Guwahati) DEMU has been provided with new stoppages at Digaru Railway Station, which were formally flagged off by Bijuli Kalita Medhi,Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Digaru Railway Station. Similarly, the Minister of State for Education & Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, flagged off the new stoppages of Train No. 13063/13064 (Howrah ? Balurghat ? Howrah) Express and Train No. 13161/13162 (Kolkata ? Balurghat ? Kolkata) Express at Daulatpur Hat Railway Station. He also flagged off Train No. 15464/15463 (Siliguri Jn. ? Balurghat ? Siliguri Jn.) Intercity Express, introducing its new stoppage at Rampur Bazar Railway Station. Additionally, Train No. 15483/15484 (Alipurduar Jn.?Delhi?Alipurduar Jn.) Mahananda Express has been provided a new stoppage at Naksalbari Railway Station. Train No. 75705/75706 (Radhikapur?Siliguri Jn.?Radhikapur) Intercity Express now have stoppage at Batasi Railway Station and Adhikari Railway Station. Likewise, Train No. 15463/15464 (Balurghat?Siliguri Jn.?Balurghat) Intercity Express has also been allotted a new stoppage at Adhikari Railway Station. These new stoppages were ceremonially flagged off by Raju Bista, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), from Naksalbari, Batasi and Adhikari Railway Stations, marking a significant boost to regional connectivity and passenger convenience.

On 16th February 2026, Train No. 15484/15483 (Delhi?Alipurduar Jn.?Delhi) Mahananda Express and Train No. 15778/15777 (Alipurduar Jn.?New Jalpaiguri?Alipurduar Jn.) Tourist Express were ceremonially flagged off with their newly introduced stoppages Sivok and Gulma Railway Station respectively. These inaugurations were flagged off by Hon?ble MP of Lok Sabha Shri Raju Bista from Sivok and Gulma. Additionally, Train No. 75705/75706 (Radhikapur?Siliguri Jn.?Radhikapur) Intercity Express commenced its new stoppages at Telta and Sudhani Railway Station. The stoppages were flagged off by MP of Lok Sabha Tariq Anwar and MLA Sangita Devi from Telta and Sudhani Railway stations respectively, marking another step forward in improving regional railway accessibility for local passengers.
