Kolkata With lakhs of commuters traveling through Sealdah Station on a daily basis, this number is expected to swell manifold during the festive Durga Puja season. To ensure a smooth, hassle-free, and safe travel experience for everyone amidst the massive influx, Sealdah Division of Eastern Railways has unveiled a comprehensive plan. This strategic initiative includes a robust crowd management strategy for Sealdah Station and the introduction of 31 special EMU services cater to the festive rush. By adhering to the designated routes and regulations, passengers can help ensure a seamless journey for themselves and their fellow commuters.

I. Passenger Regulation and Crowd Management at Sealdah Station.

To manage the large volume of passengers and facilitate a seamless flow, specific entry and exit points have been designated at Sealdah Station from September 27/28 to October 1/2, 2025.

Designated Exit Gates

Prafulla Gate: For passengers arriving on platforms 1 to 5 from local trains/MEMU services.

North Gate: For passengers arriving on platforms 6 to 10.

Metro Gate near Main Gate: To avail Metro services.

South Metro Gate & South Gate: Additional exits for general passengers.

Parcel Gate & GRP Office Gate: Via the station concourse area(South Side), serving as the second gate of Sealdah Station.

PF No. 1 / DRM Office-SDAH side: For visitors.

Designated Entry Gates

Dairy Shop via Main Gate: A primary entry point for passengers.

Main Gate: The main point of entry.

Entry on Metro station through Taxi stand gate subway: For passengers accessing the South platforms and Metro.

Sealdah South Station Gate: An additional entry point for the South section.

Entry Exit for Mail Express Passengers

Passengers of Mail/Express trains will use the St. Ambulance Gate located behind the Traffic police post for both entry and exit.

Holding Areas for Passengers

Paid Parking Area: Marked as a primary holding area to prevent overcrowding on platforms.

Area between Ambulance Gate to South Gate: Designated as a holding area for waiting passengers.

Diversion Point

The Dairy Point will serve as the first diversion point for passengers of platforms 1 to 21, guiding them toward the Main Gate, St. Ambulance Gate, or South Gate.

II. Introduction of Puja Special EMU Services

To cater to the increased travel demand, a total of 31 new Puja Special EMU services will be operated between September 27/28 and October 1/2, 2025.

A. Sealdah Main & North Section (19 Services)

SEALDAH-RANAGHAT-NAIHATI-SEALDAH: 6 services running from 21:40 hrs to 03:10 hrs.

(SEALDAH-RANAGHAT:-02, NAIHATI-RANAGHAT:- 02, SEALDAH-NAIHATI:- 02)

SEALDAH-KALYANI-SEALDAH: 4 services running from 21:10 hrs to 02:55 hrs.

BANGAON-BARASAT-SEALDAH: 4 services running from 22:20 hrs to 04:30 hrs.

RANAGHAT-NAIHATI-KRISHNANAGAR: 5 services running from 23:45 hrs to 04:55 hrs.

B. Sealdah South Section (12 Services)

SEALDAH(S)-BARUIPUR: 6 services running from 23:40 hrs to 04:30 hrs.

SEALDAH(S)-BUDGEBUDGE: 6 services running from 23:30 hrs to 03:40 hrs.

(SEALDAH-BUDGEBUDGE:-02, NEW ALIPORE-BUDGEBUDGE:- 04)

These special services aim to provide a convenient and accessible travel option for commuters, helping to ease the festive rush. Sealdah Division urges all passengers to cooperate with the railway staff and follow the crowd management guidelines for a safe and joyful celebration.
